Lauren Francis is a welsh spinto-lyric soprano.

 

After studying in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she was awarded the School Singing Prize and at the Royal College of Music, she performed Lucia “The Rape of Lucretia” for British Youth Opera at the South Bank Centre and returned to London to record this role for them. Lauren began her career in Germany at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf and at the Freiburg Opera as Queen of the Night in Mozart´s “The Magic Flute“. She also proved her virtuosity covering this role for Welsh National Opera.

 

Whilst still a student she performed at the Nationaltheater Mannheim. For the Hessen State Theatre in Darmstadt she sang Anne Trulove “The Rake’s Progress“, Marie “Zar und Zimmermann“, Angelica “Orlando Furioso“, and Genovieffa “Suor Angelica“.

 

Freelance, as Rosalinde „Die Fledermaus“, Tosca, „Tosca“, Mimì „La Bohème“, Violetta „La Traviata“, Cio Cio San „Madam Butterfly“, Gilda „Rigoletto“,  Konstanze  „Die Entführung aus dem Serail“, Pamina „Die Zauberflöte“, Fiordiligi „Così fan tutte“, Musetta „La Boheme“,  Micaela „Carmen“,  Agathe „Der Freischütz“, Gräfin „Figaros Hochzeit“, Angelica „Orlando Paladino“, Angele „Der Opernball“, Valencienne „Die Lustige Witwe“, Polly Peachum „The Beggar’s Opera“ and Lucia „The Rape of Lucretia“, she has performed in München, London, Vietnam, Poland, Holland und Belgium.

 

She won the Jan Kiepura International Singing Competition for operetta.

 

As a concert artist, Lauren sings in France, Britain and Germany. Highlights of her repertoire include Mozart´s c minor Mass and Carl Orffs Carmina Burana. She has continuing success with the Rheinische Philharmonic Orchestra, the Südwestfalen Philharmonic, the Düsseldorf Symphonic, the Munich Symphonic, the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg, the Baden-Baden Philharmonic, the Johann Strauss Orchestra Budapest and with the Philharmonic of the Nations. She made a guest appearance with Bernstein´s “Glitter and be Gay“ at the Aachen Theatre Ball and gave a solo evening at the Ottobeuren Kaisersaalkonzerten.
